How to Run a Business During the Holidays

& Still Have a Life

‘Tis the season for non-stop shopping, cooking, eating, traveling, spending time with family, and running a business! As an entrepreneur, things begin to meld together and the holidays definitely exaggerate those responsibilities and experiences. So trust us when we say...WE FEEL YOU! That’s why we put together a quick checklist of reminders to help you stay on top of the holiday season to truly be present with the people you love.

  1. Consider the areas where you can delegate. Dig deep on this one. Even if there are things you normally do throughout the year, this is the time to stretch your efficiency legs and test out delegating for the season. Plot twist, this does not necessarily need to be another team member, but perhaps a new software. Test out a 30-day free trial on a program you've been eyeing with the holidays in mind.  Which brings us to our next suggestion...

  2. Plan your social media posts before the holidays and schedule them in advance. We use Buffer, but there are plenty of tools out there like Hootsuite  which is free for individuals. That way posts will be posting while you’re roasting...the turkey. :)

  3. Schedule some time to think and breathe. It will save you from snapping on your family, customers or yourself. Get that time on the calendar now even if it’s only 5 minutes. If you need extra help and zen guidance, check out Headspace. You can schedule a 3-minute guided meditation on their 10-day free trial. Make it something for you to look forward to and know that it’s already built into your schedule so no one will “die” if you take a break. We're going to take our own advice on this one!

To support you a little more in one of the areas we recommended, we’ve put together a few social media GIFs to help you promote your holiday sales. And you can download them for FREE here. The reality is 64% of consumers make a purchase after watching branded social videos (via tubularinsights). So let’s just cut the chase, shall we?

Wishing you and your family a happy, relaxing holiday!
